Delays expected Wednesday night on SH-16

Expected delays on SH-16 tonight for girder placement on the Valnova Overpass project.

Tonight, traffic will be reduced to one lane, and periodically stopped in both directions, overnight on State Highway 16 as crews set bridge supports called girders for a future overpass. The additional overnight work is an extension of last night’s girder installation.

This work, permitted by the Idaho Transportation Department, will take place between Deep Canyon Drive and Valnova Drive starting at 11 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. tomorrow. Traffic will be temporarily stopped in both directions for up to 30 minutes as crews set a total of two girders over SH-16. Motorists should expect extended delays during these operations and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

Construction will continue through fall as crews work on the overpass bridge that will ultimately improve access to SH-16. Valnova, the developer leading this project, will distribute updates prior to each flagging operation. To sign up for them, travelers should text VALNOVA to 1-866-483-8422, visit livevalnova.com/16 or email info@valnovaoverpass.org.

Motorists should slow down, follow directions from flaggers and use caution through the work zone. Travelers should check Idaho 511 for current road conditions.
