Portion of Boise River WMA to close for invasive grass treatment

Starting the week of Sept. 21, the Charcoal Segment of the Boise River Wildlife Management Area will close for about three days to ensure public safety while a helicopter applies herbicide to invasive annual grasses.

The pre-emergent herbicide will target cheatgrass, medusahead rye and other invasive annual grasses, which reduces their spread and will improve big game habitat and lower wildfire risk.

Exact closure dates depend on weather. Idaho Fish and Game will post signs around the WMA and station staff at trailheads to keep people out during spraying.
