Southbound I-15 ramp closure at Fort Hall expected Thursday night

The southbound off-ramp at the Fort Hall Interchange (Exit 80) will close for approximately one hour beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

The Idaho Transportation Department will shift southbound Interstate 15 traffic on to new lanes built in the median near Fort Hall tomorrow, prompting a short-term ramp closure at Fort Hall. This shift will create the space needed to continue widening I-15 to three lanes in each direction.

Traffic will be shifted from the Sheepskin Road Bridge to north of the 2 ½ Mile Road Bridge. Motorists can expect:

  • The southbound off-ramp at the Fort Hall Interchange (Exit 80) will close for approximately one hour beginning at 7 p.m. Motorists may detour to the Northgate Interchange (Exit 73) or South Blackfoot Interchange (Exit 89).
  • Intermittent I-15 southbound lane closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Two lanes will remain open in each direction during the daytime.

Construction on the I-15 Northgate to Fort Hall project began in fall 2024 to improve safety and capacity by widening I-15 to three lanes in each direction. This $200 million project is expected to be completed in 2027.

As work continues on I-15, motorists are encouraged to stay alert for traffic changes, follow work zone signage and drive the posted speed limit. Visit 511.idaho.gov to plan your route in advance and prepare for potential delays.
