ISAC Publishes Annual Update to Crime in Idaho Data Dashboard
The Idaho Statistical Analysis Center (ISAC) is pleased to announce the annual update to the Crime in Idaho Data Dashboard. The dashboard includes 21 years of crime data covering 2005 to 2025. The data is collected annually from state and local law enforcement agencies through the Idaho Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
Some state-level highlights from this year’s update:
- In 2025, the total offense rate dropped 11.7% from 2024 to 43.8 offenses per 1,000 residents. This is 55% lower than the 2005 rate (97.4), and the lowest point in that time span. The long-term drop in the offense rate was driven by large decreases in the rates of crimes against persons (down 40% since 2005), crimes against property (down 72%), and Group B offenses (these include DUI, disorderly conduct, loitering, and other less serious offenses; down 63%).
- Offense rates of all four crime categories decreased from 2024 to 2025. The rate of crimes against persons was down 9% (8.5 offenses per 1,000 residents in 2025, 9.4 in 2024), crimes against property was down 18% (11.2 in 2025, 13.7 in 2024), crimes against society was down 9% (11.8 in 2025, 13.0 in 2024), and Group B was down 11% (12.1 in 2025, 13.6 in 2024).
- In 2025, there were 92,443 total offenses recorded by law enforcement, the lowest number since at least 2005. That total count is 6.5% lower than 2024 (98,891) and 33% lower than 2005 (138,916).
Additional data on specific crimes, county-level crime rates, victim and offender demographics, incident characteristics such as location type and time of day, number of arrests made, and more can be viewed on the dashboard.
The Crime in Idaho Data Dashboard allows users to explore much of the data housed in the Idaho Incident-Based Reporting System, Idaho’s vast repository of law enforcement data on criminal incidents that occur within Idaho and the same data set that drives the annual Crime in Idaho report series. Agency, county, and state data from between 2005 and 2025 can be visualized in one place, allowing for customizable views and quick trend analysis. Data updates are provided annually on or around July 1st. This project is a collaborative effort between ISAC and the Idaho Uniform Crime Reporting Program, both of which are components of the Idaho State Police.
